A 1975 graduate of the University of Kansas, Mr. Johnson earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1978. Before joining Sloan Law Firm in 1980, Mr. Johnson served two years as a research attorney for the Honorable J. Richard Foth, Chief Judge of the Kansas Court of Appeals.

Mr. Johnson’s primary emphasis is in trial and appellate court work. He has experience as trial counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants. His specialties include labor and employment litigation in the areas of civil rights, discrimination, and benefit entitlement. He has also concentrated in the areas of fidelity, surety law and commercial litigation representing banks, corporate officers and directors, and surety companies. Mr. Johnson has also successfully pursued the rights of injured parties in personal injury actions.

Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice law in all Kansas state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. His professional associations include memberships in the American Bar Association (Fidelity and Surety Committee), the Kansas Bar Association (Banking Law Section), and the Topeka Bar Association (Legal Aid Committee). In addition, Mr. Johnson has assisted in organizing legal seminars and has written articles on fidelity and surety law.
