(December 7, 2005) -
Vernon L. Jarboe, president of the Topeka law firm of Sloan, Eisenbarth, Glassman, McEntire & Jarboe, L.L.C., has announced that Louis F. Eisenbarth, a longtime partner in the firm and Topeka-area attorney, will retire December 29, 2005.

Eisenbarth has practiced law since his graduation from the Washburn University School of Law in 1954. He has maintained a wide-ranging practice, and has also specialized in defense of employers in labor and discrimination claims; corporate organization, planning and representation; wills; trusts; estates; business transactions; and civil litigation.

Among his many ties to the Topeka community, Eisenbarth served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Topeka (1957-1960) and as an adjunct professor of law teaching Corporation Law and Creditor Rights at Washburn Law School (1967-1978). He served on the Washburn University Board of Regents from 1981 through 1987 and was the Chairman of the Board from 1982 to 1984.

Eisenbarth has taught seminars on real estate law and corporation law for the Kansas Bar Association and other groups. He has authored the Kansas Real Estate Handbook on contracts and closings. He is past president of the Topeka Bar Association and member of the Kansas Bar Association and American Bar Association; a member of the Labor, Taxation, Corporation and Real Estate sections of the American Bar Association; and he is admitted to the Kansas Bar, Federal District Court, United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Tax Court, United States Court of Claims and the United States Supreme Court.

“Lou has been a tremendous partner and he remains a good friend,” said Jarboe. “While everyone at Sloan Law Firm will miss his daily presence, we are delighted for him and wish him all the best in his retirement. We look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence he has helped create at the firm.”

Sloan Law Firm has been a member of the legal community in Kansas for more than 75 years. The firm, originally founded in 1930, offers services in a variety of areas, including civil litigation, domestic and family law, estate planning, personal injury, real estate, corporate, tax, and business planning.
