Art Glassman Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

On Saturday, October 5, 2019, Sloan Attorney Arthur A. Glassman was honored by the Washburn University School of Law with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Per Washburn, "The Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed on graduates whose careers have been highly distinguished, and whose achievements and contributions are widely recognized as significant and outstanding in their field of endeavor, whether it be in the practice of law, the judiciary, business, public service, education or otherwise. While all graduates of the law school will be eligible for consideration, in general those nominated should be persons whose professional careers have been substantially completed, and who clearly will represent the very best and most accomplished of the law school's many outstanding graduates."

Arthur Glassman is a senior partner and a former president of the law firm of Sloan, Eisenbarth, Glassman, McEntire & Jarboe, L.L.C., having practiced law in Topeka, Kansas, for more than 50 years. After earning an undergraduate degree from Washburn, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and promoted to first lieutenant serving approximately three years before law school. Glassman's practice has primarily been in service to financial institutions, small business entities, and real estate developers.Also, of significant personal interest, he has directed seven past bar shows for the Topeka Bar Association, performing in many of them, and at the Kansas Bar conventions. Professionally, he has served as president of the Topeka Bar Association and is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and American Bar Association, and a former president of Topeka Lawyer's Club. He recently completed six years as a member of the board of governors of Washburn University School of Law Alumni Association.

His professional leadership associations include being the first Kansas division state chair of the American Cancer Society; president and board member of the Shawnee County American Cancer Society; president and board member of the Topeka Blood Bank; president and founder of Big Brothers – Big Sisters of Topeka, Kansas; president and board member of Topeka Civic Theatre and Academy; president and board member of Topeka Civic Theatre Foundation; president and board member of Family Service and Guidance Center; president and board member of Friends of the Topeka Zoo; chair of the Community Blood Centers of Topeka; and a board member of the Community Blood Centers of Kansas City.

Also honored were John Frieden, Class of 1967 and Terry Mann, Class of 1986.
